COVID-19

When it was clear that COVID19 was spreading in the local community, we swiftly moved to adjust our office schedule to see those patients who required in-person visits in a safe manner.

COVID19 is still here, and we must remain diligent with our social distancing. Hinsdale Hospital has resumed elective surgical cases—under a new, safer, stricter workflow—and West Suburban Women's Health has begun seeing our patients for their annual Well Woman Exams, and any other type of office visit.

Changes at West Suburban Women's Health:

Social distancing must be ongoing

  • We have altered our scheduling to allow for minimal exposure of patients to each other.
  • We are continuing to ask patients to come to appointments alone.
  • Our childcare room remains closed.

Telemedicine is here to stay

  • For appropriate visits, it's wonderful and convenient.
  • Telemedicine allows us to continue care without sharing physical space, reducing exposure for everyone.

Universal masking

  • We are reminding every patient to come in with a face covering that covers both the mouth and nose.
  • Patients without any face covering or mask will not be seen.

Screening will be ongoing

  • Our current practice of calling patients to screen for symptoms and exposure will continue to ensure we are not causing undue risk to our staff or other patients.

Spacing out prenatal appointments

  • In line with ACOG guidelines, we are continuing to space out prenatal patients when appropriate and add televisits when we can.
  • We continue our prenatal classes and breastfeeding support group using a virtual format.

Travel Guidelines:

  • In keeping with recent State of Illinois travel restrictions, any patient returning to Illinois from states experiencing a surge in new COVID-19 cases will need to wait a period of 10 days from the time of last contact within the identified state before entering our office. Please call our office if you have traveled outside of the State of Illinois in the 10 days prior to your appointment for the most up to date states list.

Cleaning protocols

  • We have always thoroughly cleaned rooms between patient visits, but since the arrival of COVID19, all staff are doing a more detailed cleaning of entire exam rooms between each patient as well as frequent cleaning of common areas.
  • We have appropriate cleaning supplies and continue to follow the strictest guidelines for cleaning and sterilization.

Face Covering Policy

Both the CDC and federal officials are recommending all persons wear masks in public to decrease the chance to spread COVID-19 to others. Based on these new recommendations, WSWH will require all patients to wear a mask, scarf, bandana, etc. over their mouth and nose when in our office. Patients will not be seen as of Thursday, April 9th if they are not wearing proper facial protection. Due to national and local shortages, we will not be able to provide a mask for you. This is to protect our patients and staff. Additionally, to reduce viral exposure for patients and staff, we are continuing our previous policy of no visitors (partners, friends, family, interpreters) allowed to attend visits.
